It has been quiet over here for sometime now, literally tumbleweed central (eek), but we are about to change that and shake things up a bit. It’s a new year , new dawn and we are carpe dieming (new word alert ) all over the place.
We are well and truly into 2018 but it is not too late is it to wish you a happy and glorious new year 🙂 I have no doubt that the glorious silly season is now just a distant memory. I traveled to the motherland for the holidays and had an amazing time catching up with the family and friends.
The highlight of my trip by a mile had to be our stay in Matobo Hills Lodge, an absolute gem of a place situated in the middle of Matopo National Park, just 50km outside Bulawayo. It is in the most tranquil setting , built on granite rocks, surrounded by nature, bestowing unadulterated beauty and serenity on it’s guests. The relaxed and laid back atmosphere was only reinforced by the very helpful staff members, who went above and beyond to made our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Christmas day was unquestionably one with a difference, spent on a game drive tracking rhinos, visiting the grave of Cecil John Rhodes, leisurely walking around Maleme Dam, swimming and just simply relishing being under the African sun. The chef at the lodge laid out a scrumptious three course Christmas lunch , the ultimate icing on the cake, (my mouth is watering thinking about it) The stay was only for two nights on the all inclusive package, next time I will be aiming for a longer visit to fully enjoy all that Matobo Hills Lodge has to offer.
The great news is they seem to run promotions quite regularly so the chances of getting a discounted stay are very high.
Wonderful memories were made, now looking forward to all the adventures 2018 is promising. I will be sure to take you along for the ride.
Many happy returns 😉
